Le th\u00e8me 2021-2023 \u00ab\u00a0Cr\u00e9er l&rsquo;espoir par l&rsquo;action\u00a0\u00bb, rappelle qu&rsquo;il existe une alternative au suicide et vise \u00e0 inspirer la lumi\u00e8re en chacun de nous.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is estimated that each day in Canada,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/public-health\/services\/publications\/healthy-living\/suicide-canada-key-statistics-infographic.html\">12 people end their life and more than 200 make a suicide attempt<\/a>. Suicide impacts people of all ages and backgrounds. They all have a story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong> Suicide Prevention Coalition of Champlain East reconvenes in time for the 2023 WSPD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to COVID-19, the work of the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Champlain East was limited. In time for this year\u2019s WSPD, the Coalition has reconvened with a mission to increase awareness of and engagement in suicide prevention within our communities to ultimately reduce suicide and its impact. The Coalition is guided by a newly developed strategic action plan. Priorities include education, awareness, and engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the Coalition are people with lived or living experience and partners from health, social, education, and community safety sectors. Together, they envision&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.livingworks.net\/dmsdocument\/789\">suicide-safer communities<\/a>, a ground up approach to changing public attitudes about suicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les copr\u00e9sidentes de la Coalition, Chantal Lalonde, gestionnaire de programme au Bureau de sant\u00e9 de l&rsquo;est de l&rsquo;Ontario, et Joanne Ledoux-Moshonas, directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l&rsquo;Association canadienne pour la sant\u00e9 mentale (ACSM) de Champlain-Est, soulignent que nos actions peuvent donner de l&rsquo;espoir \u00e0 ceux qui luttent. \u00ab\u00a0Tout le monde peut sauver une vie\u00a0\u00bb, disent-elles. \u00ab\u00a0Que vous soyez un jeune, un parent, un ami, un coll\u00e8gue ou un voisin, vous pouvez faire la diff\u00e9rence. L&rsquo;utilisation d&rsquo;un&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/talksuicide.ca\/understanding-suicide\/suicide-safe-language\">suicide-safe language<\/a>&nbsp;est un bon point de d\u00e9part\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Free training to commemorate WSPD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As WSPD approaches, the Coalition invites individuals 15 years of age or older to reserve a seat free of charge in one of two upcoming SafeTALK trainings on a first come, first served basis. SafeTALK helps participants develop suicide alertness and safety connection skills. The free SafeTALK trainings are sponsored by the Coalition and CMHA.
